BREC Jefferson Highway Park

Park History and Renovation

BREC Jefferson Highway Park underwent significant renovation as part of the Imagine Your Parks strategic plan, with construction completed at the end of 2016. This redevelopment transformed the park, adding new features to appeal to a variety of interests.

The park spans 5.0 acres and includes both outdoor recreational facilities and an indoor recreation center.

Recreational Amenities

Two of the original asphalt tennis courts were converted into two new sand volleyball courts, complete with a foot-washing station and bleachers for spectators. The park also features basketball courts, tennis courts, and a walking track for those seeking physical activity.

A new outdoor event and play space was constructed, featuring a reception plaza, architectural lighting, landscaping, and seating areas.

Children's Facilities

One of the key additions to the park was a new playground, providing a space for children to play and explore.

Recreation Center

The existing Recreation Center underwent extensive renovation, now including new program spaces and a large event space suitable for various gatherings such as weddings, receptions, conferences, and community events.

Visitor Amenities

For visitors looking for a more relaxed experience, the park provides Wi-Fi access and open spaces for leisure activities.

As of 2025, the park continues to serve as a vital community resource, offering residents of Baton Rouge a place for recreation, relaxation, and community gatherings.
