Managed by BREC (the Recreation and Park Commission for East Baton Rouge Parish), Kernan Avenue Park serves the Mid-City area of Baton Rouge, Louisiana as a cozy neighborhood retreat.
Don't let its modest size fool you - this little park packs a surprising punch. Developed with loving input from the Mid-City Redevelopment Alliance, it's designed to be a place where neighbors become friends and kids can safely burn off energy.
Where Indoor Meets Outdoor Fun
At the heart of the park stands a modern recreation center that opened its doors on September 13, 2000. Inside, you'll find an indoor basketball court that hosts everything from pickup games to community gatherings. The space hosts a variety of activities.

Step outside and you've got options - shoot some hoops on the outdoor basketball court, let the kids explore the playground (thoughtfully designed for different age groups), or just relax in the shade of the pavilion. The playground is particularly great for families with children of various ages who need a safe space to play.
