About Pawnee Street Park
A Local Hangout Spot
Situated in North Baton Rouge, Pawnee Street Park is that cozy little green space you might miss if you blink while driving down Scenic Highway. At just about half an acre (0.57 to be exact), this compact neighborhood retreat is managed by the Baton Rouge Recreation and Park Commission (BREC) and has become something of a gathering point for locals looking to get some fresh air.
Rising from the Ashes
The park has a bit of a comeback story - after a fire damaged its recreation center back in 2008, it transformed into what's now called an "open park." Sometimes simplicity is exactly what you need, and that's precisely what Pawnee Street Park offers today.

What You'll Find There
If basketball is your thing, you'll appreciate the full outdoor court where you can shoot some hoops or jump into a pickup game. The open green space isn't fancy, but it's ideal for tossing a frisbee, having a casual picnic, or just lounging on a blanket with a good book.
There are a few picnic tables scattered around where you can enjoy lunch or catch up with friends. And yes, there's a drinking fountain - because Louisiana heat is no joke, and staying hydrated matters.
Getting There and Getting Around
You can easily park along Scenic Highway when visiting. Don't expect elaborate facilities here - there's no playground equipment or formal walking paths. But honestly, that's part of its charm.
What makes this place special isn't fancy amenities but how it represents a straightforward, peaceful spot for the community to breathe, connect, and enjoy a bit of outdoor time together. It's a simple space that fulfills a not-so-simple role in neighborhood life.
