Park Overview

Thomas Park is an 18-acre public recreation area that serves as a hub for community activities and outdoor enjoyment. The park offers a diverse range of facilities catering to various interests and age groups.

One of the park's central features is the Thomas Recreation Center, which provides indoor facilities for recreational activities and community programs. The center hosts various instructor-led activities and is used for youth and adult athletic games and practices, including volleyball and basketball leagues.

Recreation Trails and Sports Facilities

The park boasts a 0.6-mile jogging path, perfect for those looking to maintain their fitness or enjoy a leisurely walk. For sports enthusiasts, Thomas Park offers multiple options, including lighted tennis courts, a tennis wall for practice, and outdoor basketball courts.

Soccer fields are also available, providing space for team sports and casual play. For pickleball enthusiasts, Thomas Park offers both indoor and outdoor courts, with two indoor pickleball courts and eight outdoor courts, making it a popular destination for this rapidly growing sport.

Skate Park

Thomas Park is home to Lafayette's newest addition - an 11,200-square-foot skate park. This facility, designed by Tito Porrata of The Platform Group, features a street plaza with rails and platforms, a 4.5 to 7-foot bowl, and a mini ramp.

The skate park, which began construction in late 2023, is a welcome addition for the local skateboarding community.

Family-Friendly Areas

Families with young children can enjoy the park's playground area, providing a safe and fun environment for kids to play. The park's landscape also includes large hills, which are popular for flying kites or simply rolling down for fun.
