About the Location
Play & Recreation Spaces
Positioned in a residential neighborhood, Bodenger Park offers a leisure playground that's a hit with local families. While the playground is generally well-kept, just a heads-up that some equipment shows its age with a few broken features and some chipping paint. The bridge section could use some TLC too. It's best suited for kids 5 and older, so the little ones might find some parts challenging.
Beyond the playground, you can find plenty of options to stay active. The basketball courts are ready for your next pickup game, while the baseball field awaits home runs. The well-maintained football fields are community favorites and regularly host neighborhood games and practices. Regardless of whether you're shooting hoops or throwing the pigskin, there's space for everyone to play their sport of choice.
Park Setting
What's nice about Bodenger is how clean and spacious it feels. The grounds are well-manicured, creating a pleasant green escape in the middle of a residential area. Houses line the perimeter, making this truly a neighborhood park in every sense.
You'll find restrooms on-site that are kept reasonably clean - always a plus when spending a few hours outdoors. And in a thoughtful modern touch, there's even a charging station available if your phone battery starts dipping into the red zone.
Behind the Scenes
Bodenger Park falls under the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) umbrella.
Ryan Powell works as the site facilitator, keeping things running smoothly. And if you're wondering about local pride, the park's mascot is the Jaguars, sporting team colors of blue, black, and white that you might spot around the grounds.
