About the Location
A Whimsical Oasis
Ever wonder how Confetti Park got its charming name? It comes from the eye-catching aluminum fence that wraps around the space, created by artist Steve Kline. The fence's playful pierced confetti pattern gives this quiet place its distinctive personality and has become its calling card in the neighborhood.
Parents, you'll appreciate the fully gated design with secure entrances - ideal for keeping an eye on energetic toddlers and little ones who tend to wander off in mid-play.
Play Paradise for the Little Ones
This park works well for younger children, with playground equipment designed for the 2-12 age range. Kids can zoom down several slides or soar on two regular swings and a special toddler swing that keeps the smallest visitors safely entertained.
The layout strikes a nice balance with a small grassy area alongside cedar chip-covered spaces that cushion inevitable tumbles. There's plenty of room in the spacious yard for little legs to run wild and burn off energy.
On hot Louisiana days, the mature cypress trees provide welcome shade, casting shadows across the playground that make summer visits more comfortable.
Take a Break
While the kids play, you can relax at one of the shaded picnic tables scattered across the park or grab a seat on strategically placed benches that offer clear views of the playground area.
The comfortable setup means you won't feel rushed - many families end up spending half a day here, alternating between active play and leisurely snack breaks.
Beyond the Playground
Part of what makes visiting Confetti Park so pleasant is its location within a picturesque residential area surrounded by historic New Orleans homes. The charming neighborhood setting elevates a simple playground visit into something more memorable.
A particularly convenient feature is the restaurant right across the street - excellent for when snacks run out or everyone's ready for a proper meal without having to pack up and drive elsewhere.
Community at Heart
Beyond its daily use as a playground, the park hosts various neighborhood events throughout the year. From puppet shows and bicycle races to music events and seasonal parties, there's often something special happening here.
The annual calendar includes some delightful traditions like the Krewe of Confetti Kids Mardi Gras Parade, a Friendship Day Parade, an Easter Egg Hunt, the Candy Land Ball, a Spooktacular Halloween Party, and various Christmas celebrations.
Grassroots Revival
What many visitors don't realize is that Confetti Park owes its current charm to dedicated locals. In the early 2000s, neighborhood residents banded together to address safety issues and upgrade the park's facilities.
This community effort led to the creation of Confetti Kids Inc., a nonprofit that continues to maintain and improve the park.
