Found in the neighborhood, Bessie D. Smith Park offers a little green escape that packs in quite a few amenities despite its cozy size. The asphalt walking path is smooth and well-kept - ideal for your morning jog or a leisurely afternoon stroll when you need to clear your head.

Looking for a spot to enjoy lunch outdoors? The covered picnic sites come complete with grills and picnic tables, making this an ideal place to gather with friends or enjoy a quiet sandwich away from your desk.

Places to Play

If you've got kids in tow, the playground offers a safe space for them to burn off energy. The equipment is in good shape, so you can relax a bit while they climb and slide to their heart's content.

One of the park's newer additions that we really appreciate are the mural art displays. They add a pop of color and creativity to your visit - definitely worth taking a moment to check out as you walk by.

Size and Setting

This isn't a sprawling city park - it's a modest green space that feels like a secret little oasis in the neighborhood. Its smaller size actually makes it perfect when you just need a quick dose of nature or some fresh air between errands.

What's Coming Soon

The park is getting some nice upgrades soon. New LED lighting will be installed, which will make evening visits both more pleasant and safer. You'll also notice walking distance signs popping up, helpful if you're counting steps or tracking your exercise routine.

These improvements are part of the ongoing care Caddo Parish is putting into its local parks.
