C. Bickham Dickson Park is a 585-acre natural area located in southeast Shreveport, Louisiana, situated along Old River Lake. Known as the largest SPAR-managed park in the region, it offers a combination of developed and natural spaces that create an inviting environment for outdoor activities.
The park features diverse habitats, including bottomland hardwood forests and shrub-scrub woodlands, which make it a hotspot for birdwatching enthusiasts.
Recreation Opportunities
The park is particularly notable for its equestrian trails, which attract horseback riders, and its fishing dock, providing an excellent resource for anglers. Small boats are welcomed on the park's 200-acre lake, although the use of gasoline motors is prohibited, ensuring a serene and eco-friendly experience for visitors.
Education and Research
C. Bickham Dickson Park houses the Red River Education and Research Park (RRERP), a collaborative initiative with Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS). This facility emphasizes the management and study of natural resources within the Red River Basin.
