About Caddy Memorial Park
A Salt Marsh Escape on Gull Island
At the edge of a salt marsh, with views over Black's Creek and Quincy Bay, Caddy Memorial Park is the kind of place where you can catch an ocean breeze under a canopy of oak, cedar, elm, sumac and pitch pine - and, if you're lucky, spot an osprey nest from inside the park.
The 15-acre park is on Gull Island, just off Quincy Shore Drive near Furnace Brook Parkway, and is part of the Quincy Shore Reservation, managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).
The Loop Trail
An easy 0.33-mile loop trail circles the park, paved from the parking area to a footbridge and gravel after that, with shade and marsh and water views the whole way.

Along the route, engraved boulders share some of the area's ecology and history, which adds a bit of depth beyond the scenery.
3,500 Years of History
When the park was built in 1999, numerous Native American artifacts around 3,500 years old were excavated here. The area lies within the traditional territory of the Neponset band of the Massachusett (Massachuseuk) people.
Fishing, Paddling and Play
Beyond the trail, the park is a good spot for fishing and paddling. Before eating anything you catch, check the Massachusetts Department of Public Health's online database for fish consumption advisories - some local waters may contain mercury, PFAS or other contaminants.
For kids, there's a playground with a wood chip surface, aimed mainly at younger children.
Before You Visit
The park is open daily from 6AM to 9PM, entry is free, and parking is along Quincy Shore Drive. It's ADA accessible, and dogs are welcome on a leash as long as you clean up after them; hunting isn't allowed.
The marsh and tree cover make for prime mosquito territory, especially in the evening, so bring bug spray.
