About Broadway Park
Riverside Retreat
Tucked just north of downtown Ann Arbor along the Huron River, Broadway Park offers a peaceful five-acre escape from urban life. What makes this green space special? Its 1.37-acre dog park is thoughtfully divided into separate areas for small and large four-legged friends. Both sections feature generous space with sturdy fencing, giving pups room to sprint and socialize safely.
The park's towering maples and oaks create a natural canopy that's particularly stunning during Michigan's fall season. Adding a creative touch to this natural setting is Turbine - an eye-catching sculpture crafted from repurposed canoes as part of the Canoe Imagine Art series. It creates an interesting blend of nature and artistic expression.
A Dog's Paradise
If you have a dog, the park accommodates canines of all sizes. The larger dog section goes beyond a simple open field, featuring little trails and a secluded nook that gives dogs varied terrain to explore and sniff. These features provide varied terrain for dogs to explore.
One heads-up though - occasionally you might encounter plants with burrs in the dog area. A quick post-play check of your dog's coat is a good habit to develop after visits here.
ADSmall Group Walking Bar Tour
Join us on an unforgettable walking bar tour along Detroit’s legendary Woodward Avenue, where you’ll explore 3-4 well traveled watering holes. From sleek cocktail lounges to time-honored dive bars, this experience blends the best of Detroit’s nightlife with its rich, gritty, and fascinating history.
Finding Your Way
Broadway Park seamlessly connects to Argo Park & Nature Area and Riverside Park via the Broadway Bridge, creating an extended outdoor experience for ambitious walkers. The paved paths are maintained even through winter, making this a year-round destination.
Getting here does require a bit of local knowledge. There's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to find street parking along Depot Street, where some free 2-hour spots are usually available. First-time visitors might find it tricky to locate since signage is minimal - consider it part of the lesser-known park experience.
If you're car-free, good news: there's a convenient bus stop near the Broadway Bridge. While bike racks are absent, the park's proximity to downtown makes it an easy walk if you're already in the area.
Local Treasure
What makes Broadway Park special is its ability to offer tranquility despite being so close to downtown. The riverside setting creates a background soundtrack of gentle flowing water, and the space tends to be less crowded than other Ann Arbor parks. Whether you're a dog owner looking for a safe play space, a nature lover seeking a quick escape, or just someone who appreciates quiet outdoor spots, this unassuming park offers a pleasant green space close to downtown.
