Found in the median of Woodward Avenue, the Esplanade is a slender touch of urban greenery in Detroit, Michigan. Since opening in 2017, this public park connects downtown spaces and was created as part of a $400,000 investment led by Quicken Loans.

Running from the southern edge of Campus Martius Park down to Larned Street, the Esplanade creates a natural pathway linking Downtown Detroit with the Spirit of Detroit Plaza. It's not just a park - it's a thread woven through the urban fabric of the city.

What You'll Find Here

Between June and October, you can find Michigan's largest daily food truck rally here, with options ranging from comfort classics to street food.

The Esplanade isn't just about eating, though. Carefully planned greenery, elegant archways, and thoughtful lighting create a welcoming atmosphere day and night. It's a place where the community comes together, whether for a quick lunch break or an evening stroll.

You'll find picnic tables and seating areas scattered throughout, great for enjoying takeout from nearby eateries or simply watching the world go by. Kids can enjoy the swing set while adults appreciate this narrow but surprisingly versatile urban retreat.

The design incorporates both aesthetic and functional elements that fit well in the downtown landscape. Note that while the park is kept clean through community efforts, you might not find trash receptacles available, so plan accordingly.
