A Cultural Oasis in North Corktown
Completed in 2016, this park emerged from a collaborative effort led by the Heritage Works nonprofit, involving input from local residents and stakeholders. Once a site plagued by illegal dumping, the land was transformed into a vibrant park showcasing unique design and cultural significance.
Symbolic Design Elements
One of the most notable features of Intersections Park is a path shaped like two overlapping crocodiles, a West African symbol known as Fawohodie, representing unity and interdependence. This creative design not only serves as a walking trail but also carries a deeper message of cultural connectivity and solidarity.
Scattered throughout the park are colorful pillar sculptures and benches adorned with inspiring words, creating a welcoming atmosphere for reflection and relaxation.
Community Impact
