About the Location
Natural Beauty Awaits
Right next to the historic Grand River, Grand Woods spans a generous 128 acres of green space and well-kept facilities. It's a peaceful retreat where families, fitness buffs, and nature enthusiasts all find their happy place.
A winding nature trail invites you to stretch your legs while taking in the surroundings. The quiet fishing pond offers a wonderful spot to cast a line or simply sit back and breathe in some fresh air - and yes, people do actually catch fish here!
Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife; deer often make appearances along the trails. The deeper you venture from the parking lots, the more untouched and secluded the environment feels, with some truly beautiful vistas along the riverbanks.
Play Your Heart Out
Disc golf enthusiasts, rejoice! The park features a 24-hole course that ranks among the largest and most popular in the region. You'll throw across both open fields and lightly wooded areas, with some challenging holes featuring water hazards and elevation changes. The course recently got an upgrade with new Chainstar Pro baskets - a nice touch for serious players.
Beyond disc golf, there's a radio-controlled car race track that draws RC hobbyists from miles around. If traditional sports are more your style, softball fields await, and there's a volleyball net conveniently positioned across from the main parking area.
Gather & Celebrate
The park shines as a community gathering spot. Need space for a group? The picnic shelter holds up to 80 people, while the larger pavilion accommodates 100 guests. The pavilion comes nicely equipped with a fireplace, kitchen, and nearby restrooms - great for birthday parties, family reunions, or community events.
Kids have two playground areas to choose from, complete with slides and swing sets - one near each pavilion. Clean restrooms and drinking water stations within the park make longer visits comfortable and convenient.
River & Trails
The walking trails consistently earn praise, offering tranquil paths alongside the Grand River. While some trail markers have faded with time, the routes remain excellent for nature walks and dog outings.
For water enthusiasts, the park provides convenient Grand River access points with parking close to the water's edge, making kayak launching a breeze. This feature makes Grand Woods particularly popular during warmer months.
The blend of natural scenery and varied amenities creates a welcoming environment year-round. Just note that after heavy rains, particularly in spring, some areas of the disc golf course may experience flooding.
