Laurel Park

A Local Retreat

Situated in Jackson's Belhaven area, Laurel Park is a green retreat for locals. This community park has become a natural meeting point for families and residents looking for a bit of outdoor respite in the midst of city life.

Play & Recreation Space

Kids flock to the playground area where a variety of equipment awaits - from winding slides and a challenging jungle gym to multiple swing sets where little ones can soar through the air. There's even a sandbox for creative play. Behind the playground stretches a generous green space ideal for impromptu activities.

You'll often spot neighbors engaging in casual soccer matches or softball games across the field, while dog owners let their four-legged friends stretch their legs and socialize. When you need a break from the sun, the picnic pavilion provides welcome shade for a relaxing lunch or afternoon snack.

Natural Exploration

For those with a touch of adventure, the back of the park connects to the Belhaven Mountain Bike Trails. These well-maintained paths invite you to run, walk, or simply wander through the natural surroundings - a great extension of your park experience.

Community Heart

The park is maintained by the Friends of Laurel Park, a committee under the Greater Belhaven Neighborhood Foundation. Back in 2000, a collaborative effort between neighborhood advocates and the City of Jackson gave the park a thoughtful renovation, enhancing what has long been a community treasure.

Good to Know

Note that the park doesn't offer public restrooms or functioning water fountains, so plan accordingly. For parents' peace of mind, the playground has protective fencing along both the street side and drainage areas.

Laurel Park carries a rich history as a neighborhood gathering spot - some longtime residents fondly recall memories here dating all the way back to the 1960s.
