Deer Valley Park is a peaceful little retreat tucked away in Lee's Summit. If you've got kids in tow, they'll likely make a beeline for the large playground structure with all the fixings. The swings are a classic hit, of course, but what really stands out is the giant climbing rock that seems to be a magnet for adventurous little ones. It's one of those playgrounds where you can actually sit back for a minute while the kids burn off some energy.

Natural Beauty

What makes this park special is its 10-acre native habitat area where you can disconnect from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with nature. You might spot some local wildlife if you're patient (and quiet) enough.

Feeling like you need to move your legs? The 0.8-mile asphalt trail weaves through some lovely wooded areas, offering a refreshing walk or jog. We appreciate that parts of the trail are shaded by trees - a real blessing during those hot Missouri summer days when you're trying to get some steps in without melting.

The Practical Stuff

There's a nice gazebo with picnic tables if you want to bring lunch or just sit somewhere with a bit of cover. You'll find a drinking fountain for humans and, thoughtfully, one for four-legged friends too.

In terms of facilities, the park offers portable restrooms throughout. If you're bringing your dog along (and many do), you'll be glad to know there are waste bags available - always a sign of a well-maintained park.
