About the Location
History and Dedication
Established in 1947, the park was named in honor of David Hickey, the first St. Louisan to lose his life in World War I during the Battle of the Toul Sector on February 24, 1918.
The current Hickey Park is actually the second park to bear this name. The original Hickey Park, dedicated in 1941, was located at Goodfellow and Bircher boulevards but was repurposed during World War II for the construction of an ammunition plant.
The present-day Hickey Park was dedicated by Mayor Raymond Tucker in 1960.
Park Features and Recreation
This 16.26-acre public park offers a variety of recreational facilities for visitors. The park features open green spaces, baseball fields, and walking trails.
