About the Location

History and Dedication

Established in 1947, the park was named in honor of David Hickey, the first St. Louisan to lose his life in World War I during the Battle of the Toul Sector on February 24, 1918.

The current Hickey Park is actually the second park to bear this name. The original Hickey Park, dedicated in 1941, was located at Goodfellow and Bircher boulevards but was repurposed during World War II for the construction of an ammunition plant.

The present-day Hickey Park was dedicated by Mayor Raymond Tucker in 1960.

Park Features and Recreation

This 16.26-acre public park offers a variety of recreational facilities for visitors. The park features open green spaces, baseball fields, and walking trails.

A paved walking path circles the park, providing opportunities for exercise and leisure strolls. The path is equipped with blue workout equipment at various stations, allowing visitors to incorporate strength training into their walks.

Family-Friendly Amenities

For families and children, Hickey Park provides two separate playground areas with modern equipment. These playgrounds cater to different age groups, ensuring that both younger and older children have appropriate spaces for play and physical activity.
