About Amend Park

Sports Facilities

Situated in Billings, Montana, Amend Park spreads across 60 acres of recreational space that serves the city's soccer community. While primarily known for soccer, this multi-use complex offers plenty of green space for various activities.

As the largest soccer complex in Billings - and considered by many to be among the best in Montana - the park has multiple well-kept fields that stay surprisingly green throughout the playing seasons. From local league matches to tournaments and high school practices, these fields see plenty of cleated action year-round.

Soccer players aren't the only athletes who get to enjoy the space. A turf lacrosse field complements the grass fields, with all playing surfaces maintained to excellent standards year-round.

Location and Management

You'll find Amend Park at the corner of King Avenue and Nimitz Drive in southwest Billings. It's a collaborative effort between the Amend Park Development Council and the City of Billings Parks, Recreation & Public Lands Department, who work together to keep this community space thriving for both organized sports and casual use.

Additional Activities

Beyond soccer and lacrosse, Amend Park has room for plenty more fun. The park features a cross-country track that's hosted everything from local meets to regional championships.

The wide, open grassy areas make perfect venues for ultimate frisbee games, kite flying on breezy days, or even RC airplane flying for the hobbyists among us. The ample space gives plenty of room to spread out and play.

Amenities

When hunger strikes, the park's concession stand - housed in a charming stone building - offers coffee, lattes, popcorn, pretzels and other snacks during events. It's basic, but convenient when you need a quick refreshment.

The restroom facilities are generally clean and well-maintained, though they can get a bit crowded during major tournaments. During busy times, portable toilets supplement the permanent facilities.

Need a break from the sun? The park offers a covered picnic area where you can enjoy a packed lunch or simply rest between activities. While picnic tables aren't abundant, they provide a welcome spot to relax and take in the park atmosphere.

Events and Usage

From March through November, Amend Park buzzes with activity. Youth soccer (both recreational and competitive), adult leagues, tournaments, lacrosse matches, and various camps keep the fields busy almost daily.

The park also hosts larger community gatherings like the Big Sky State Games and the cherished Balloon Festival. The annual balloon festival features colorful hot air displays and nighttime balloon glows, along with food trucks and activities for all ages.

Parking and Accessibility

Paved parking areas serve the park well for everyday use, but be prepared for a bit of a parking challenge during tournaments and major events. Saturday mornings during soccer season can be particularly tight.

The facility is handicap accessible, making the park enjoyable for visitors of all mobility levels.

Community Features

One of the park's more unique offerings is its community garden, open to the public. This green space provides locals with a place to grow fresh produce - particularly valuable since south Billings is considered a food desert.

Park Rules

Note that dogs aren't permitted during tournaments and organized sporting events, although you might be able to bring them for walks during quieter times. The park maintains a tobacco-free, family-friendly environment for everyone's enjoyment.
