Optimist Park
About Optimist Park
Play Ball and More
Spread across 16 acres, this park features baseball and softball fields clustered on the north end, with plenty of space for sports enthusiasts. The recent addition of a tee ball field means even the littlest sluggers have a place to play.
Got a game? You'll find all the essentials here: concessions for those mid-inning snacks, bathrooms (though keep in mind these might be locked during certain seasons), batting cages to perfect your swing, and a flag pole standing tall over the diamonds.
Chill and Play Zone
The south side of Optimist Park takes a more laid-back approach with areas that are excellent for unscheduled fun. Here you'll find picnic shelters, playground equipment, and open green spaces where you can toss a frisbee or just lounge on the grass.
Recent upgrades include new picnic shelters, sand volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, and barbecue grills for outdoor cooking. The new playground equipment is designed to be both safe and engaging for children.
Stay Active Your Way
Need to get those steps in? The paved jogging trails wind across the park, providing excellent routes for a morning walk or evening run. Basketball enthusiasts can head to the court on the south end, which has been improved to accommodate multiple activities - including the increasingly popular sport of pickleball with newly added pickleball nets.
Adults looking for a more structured workout can take advantage of the newly installed exercise stations - no gym membership required!
Green and Serene
The park features abundant trees and well-maintained grassy areas that create a peaceful atmosphere. Curved sidewalks meander through the space, offering pleasant routes for walkers and bikers alike.
Driving? No worries about parking - a freshly paved lot on the north end puts you right next to the baseball fields and other amenities.
Extra Perks
Planning an event? The park's indoor facility is available for rent, however you'll need to make reservations in person at the Parks office. Nature lovers might be interested to know that Optimist Park participates in Billings' Parkland Gleaning Project, allowing you to harvest fruit from public trees when in season.
Dog owners, your four-legged friends are welcome here - just remember to clean up afterward. And if you're planning an evening visit, light poles throughout the park help keep things bright and safe after sunset.
Recent improvements to Optimist Park include expanded parking, updated playgrounds, and new amenities designed for visitors of all ages.
