About the Location
A Piece of Las Vegas History
Tucked away near W Lake Mead Blvd in Las Vegas sits Kianga Isoke Palacio Park, a green oasis with a meaningful past. Formerly known as Doolittle Park, it was renamed in 2012 to honor Kianga Isoke Palacio - a remarkable woman who dedicated herself to nurturing young girls at the West Las Vegas Arts Center and throughout the community.
Part of the larger Doolittle Complex, this park holds a special place in many hearts. Talk to locals and you'll hear stories of childhood memories formed here, evidence of how deeply rooted this space is in the neighborhood's identity.
Where Sports Dreams Take Shape
Baseball enthusiasts will feel right at home on the park's baseball fields, which buzz with activity as the home turf for both the Bolden Little League and the East Palo Alto T-Ball team. The fields got a nice upgrade in 2019 with new scoreboards - a small change that made a big difference for the young athletes and their supportive fans.
Beyond baseball, the complex hosts youth football games and cheerleading practices, offering many sports options for neighborhood kids. And when the weather doesn't cooperate? No problem - there's a gymnasium inside the complex where the action continues.
Fun for Everyone
Regardless of whether you're 5 or 55, there's something to enjoy at Kianga Isoke Palacio Park. Kids gravitate toward the playground with its animal climbers, age-appropriate slides, and challenging rock walls. On hot Nevada days (and there are plenty), the splash pad becomes the most popular spot in the park, with children laughing and cooling off in the water.
Adults haven't been forgotten - the outdoor exercise area offers various equipment to help you stay fit while enjoying the fresh air.
Take a Breath, Take a Walk
Sometimes the simplest pleasures are the best. The park's large walking track circles the grounds, providing a great loop for your daily walk, jog, or skate. Mature trees cast dappled shadows within the park, creating natural umbrellas where you can relax with a good book or simply enjoy a moment of calm.
The shaded walking path has become particularly popular by seniors and regular walkers who appreciate the respite from the intense Nevada sun while still being able to get their steps in.
Gather and Connect
Bringing people together seems built into this park's DNA. There are picnic areas scattered throughout - from intimate shaded tables for small gatherings to a larger covered gazebo that can accommodate family reunions or birthday celebrations.
Dog owners appreciate the open fields where their furry friends can stretch their legs, with waste bag stations conveniently placed to keep the park clean and enjoyable for everyone.
The Heart of the Neighborhood
More than just a collection of amenities, this park serves many community needs. On any given day, you might see youth sports practices, impromptu gatherings, or community events that bring neighbors together.
Its prime location at the intersection of Lake Mead Boulevard and J Street makes it easily accessible for residents in surrounding neighborhoods, which explains why it's constantly humming with activity. In many ways, Kianga Isoke Palacio Park isn't just in the community - it is the community.
