About the Location
Sports and Recreation
Olympia Sports Park is a green oasis with plenty of space to get your game on. The lighted fields mean you can keep playing even as the sun sets. With four soccer fields and basketball courts, you'll find your sports fix whether you're into team play or just shooting some hoops with friends. If running's more your thing, the paved walking paths and hilltop trail offer great options for getting those steps in while enjoying some pretty sweet views.
We love how the park's design works with the desert landscape rather than against it. There's something peaceful about having open desert surrounding parts of the park - it's like having a natural frame for all the activity happening inside.
Trails and Outdoor Exercise
If you're into outdoor adventures, you can find several walking and hiking trails to explore, especially at the southern end where paths lead up the hill. Don't miss Shark's Ridge trail behind the park - it offers some truly amazing views if you're up for a bit more of a challenge.
You'll spot plenty of locals walking their dogs, runners getting their training in, and even mountain biking enthusiasts tackling the good MTB trails. The higher spots in the park make for perfect little viewpoints - a nice local escape without having to venture far from the city.
Children's Play Areas
The playground here is a hit with kids aged 2 to 12. Little climbers especially love the rock climbing structures from the Canyon Collection™, which offer just the right amount of challenge while still being safe.
Older kids gravitate toward the Netplex® playsystems with their various climbing options. And for a touch of excitement, there's a ZipKrooz® installation where kids can zoom across part of the playground - always a highlight of the visit for the more adventurous little ones.
Water Features
Let's be real - Vegas gets hot. That's why the water play features and splash pads are such a blessing, offering a refreshing way to cool down. These are especially popular with families during warmer months, however note that they're typically closed from October 1 through April 30.
The splash pad area is kept in good condition and provides a fun escape from the desert heat - a must-visit section of the park during summer months.
Amenities and Features
You'll come across some relief from the sun thanks to custom SkyWays® shade structures covering the playground equipment and swing sets, however on really hot days, you might wish for even more shaded areas.
The park has numerous family picnic areas with tables meant for gatherings, plus BBQ grills if you want to cook up something tasty. Clean restrooms, drinking fountains, and plenty of parking round out the conveniences that make visits here hassle-free.
The good lighting in the evenings creates a safer vibe for night activities, and the overall cleanliness makes it a pleasant spot for families. The park welcomes visitors daily from 6AM to 11PM, so whether you're an early bird looking for a morning jog or prefer evening recreation after work, Olympia accommodates both schedules.
