About the Location

Historical Significance

Jaycee Community Park is an 18-acre public park located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The park is named after Justice Myron E. Leavitt, who was born in Las Vegas in 1930 and lived in the Jaycee Park area his entire life.

Leavitt was the founder of Little League baseball in Las Vegas and dedicated his adult life to coaching various sports, including Little League, American Legion baseball, Pop Warner football, basketball, and softball. Much of his coaching took place at this very park.

Park Amenities

The park offers a diverse range of recreational facilities and amenities for visitors of all ages. It features both active and passive recreational areas, including sports facilities, play areas, and spaces for relaxation.

The park's design incorporates various elements to cater to different interests and activities, making it a versatile community space.

Skate Park Features

One of the park's notable features is its 10,000-square-foot skate park, which was designed by SITE Design Group, Inc. and constructed by California Skateparks. The skate park is described as more of a skate plaza, featuring a split-level street course along with transition features.

It includes elements such as ledges, stairs, handrails, bank ramps, and a manual pad. The park's designers used integral colored concrete to match the color scheme of the existing park and shade structures.

Pet-Friendly Areas

The park also includes areas for dog owners, with designated dog runs where pets can exercise and socialize. However, visitors are reminded to keep a close eye on their dogs and clean up after them to maintain the park's cleanliness and safety for all users.
