About the Location
A Glimpse into the Past & Present
Situated in Sparks, Nevada, Burgess Park spans about 6 acres of green space that's been bringing the community together for decades. Back in the 1960s, this little oasis was known as Northmore Park before it got its current name. If you're exploring the older part of Sparks, you'll discover this park right in the heart of an established neighborhood where generations of locals have created countless memories.
What You'll Find Here
Burgess Park has a bit of something for everyone. Skateboarding enthusiasts will appreciate the skatepark, a local favorite where you can practice your ollies and kickflips. While it's definitely well-loved (and sometimes shows its age with a few cracks in the concrete), it remains a popular spot for the boarding community.
Kids can burn off energy at the playground area, which got a facelift about a decade ago. We particularly like how the open design lets parents keep an eye on the little ones while still enjoying other parts of the park.
A heads-up about facilities: the restroom situation is a bit unclear. Some visitors mention portable toilets being available sometimes, but it's probably smart to bring your own water and plan bathroom breaks accordingly.
Get Your Game On
Feeling active? The park offers tennis courts, basketball courts, and a baseball field where you can get your sports fix. If you're looking for a casual pickup game or just want to practice your jump shot, there's space for that here.
When it's time to refuel, head to the picnic area where you'll find at least one covered shelter - ideal for taking a break from the Nevada sun. This spot works great for birthday celebrations or simple family gatherings, especially during those warmer months.
For the Four-Legged Friends
Dog owners, you're in luck! Burgess Park offers plenty of grassy areas where your furry companions can stretch their legs. You can find dog waste stations throughout, making cleanup convenient. Since the park sits near busy Pyramid Way, it's best to keep your pup leashed for safety.
The open fields provide ample room for both humans and canines to enjoy, however you might occasionally encounter some litter. Despite these minor maintenance hiccups, the park remains a cherished community space where neighbors continue to gather, just as they have for generations.
