Lazy 5 Regional Park

Lazy 5 Regional Park is an 85-acre public park located in Sparks, Nevada. The park gets its name from a ranch that previously operated in the area, which used a brand that resembled a sideways '5'.

The upper area of the park, which includes the community center, water park, playground, and skate park, opened in 2001. In 2007, the park expanded to include hiking trails spanning the full 85 acres owned by Washoe County. In early 2019, the park saw another addition with 'The Hive', which replaced a sand and salt dome adjacent to the skateparks.

Lazy 5 Regional Park offers a variety of recreational facilities and activities for visitors. The park features large grassy areas, picnic spots, and sports fields. It also houses the Melio Gaspari Water Play Park, which provides a fun splash area for children during the summer months.

The park hosts community events throughout the year, including a popular summer concert series. These free concerts, held on Wednesday evenings, include food trucks and a mobile pub, creating a festive atmosphere for attendees.

Historically, the land where Lazy 5 Regional Park now stands was once home to Harolds Trapshooting Club, which operated from 1950 to 1979. During its heyday, it was considered one of the largest trapshooting clubs in the country and hosted major Amateur Trapshooting Association tournaments.
