About the Location
Throw Some Discs
Rio Bravo County Park hosts a laid-back 9-hole disc golf course that weaves through the scattered trees on the grounds. It's perfect if you're just getting into the sport or if you're an experienced player looking to squeeze in a quick round without the crowds.
If nine holes isn't enough for you, grab the UDisc app where you'll find two alternative 18-hole layouts to challenge yourself. The park is rarely packed, creating a relaxed atmosphere that's good for bringing your four-legged friend along.
Get Active
Situated right next to an elementary school, the park features sports fields that serve both the local community and students. The open field in the center provides space to toss a football, fly a kite, or relax on a blanket.
You'll often spot kids playing baseball on the youth fields, although fair warning - parking near these fields can be a bit tight. The playground is on the smaller side and has seen better days maintenance-wise.
Picnic Time
Looking for a spot to enjoy some outdoor dining? The park's designated picnic areas offer a pleasant setting for family get-togethers or casual meals with friends. Nothing fancy, but sometimes all you need is a table and some fresh air.
Good to Know
Heads up - there are no public restrooms here, so plan your visit accordingly. Parking can be a challenge during busy times, especially when there's a game happening.
What's Coming
While Rio Bravo offers the basics right now, it could use some improvements to drainage, parking, and general flow. The county has recognized these issues and has plans for better trails and road access to make this park and others nearby more user-friendly in the future.
