About the Location
What You'll Find Here
Spread across 3.7 acres, Jason Jiron Park offers a little something for everyone. The basketball court is well-maintained and thoughtfully designed - with additional hoops on the side that let people play half-court games without interrupting the main action.
It's actually pretty perfect if you're meeting friends for a pickup game while others are already playing. Beyond the court, there's a generous grassy area where you can kick a soccer ball around, play tag with the kids, or just stretch out and enjoy the day.
Family-Friendly Spots
If you've got little ones in tow, the playground area won't disappoint. There are swings for the thrill-seekers, slides for the speed demons, and a rock wall for budding climbers. Local families have nicknamed this the "castle park" thanks to its distinctive jungle gym that sparks imagination and adventure.
Need a break? The park offers picnic areas with two covered picnic tables where you can refuel with a packed lunch or celebrate a birthday, all while staying shaded from the New Mexico sun.
Getting There & Parking
You'll come across a compact paved lot right at the entrance. Don't worry if it looks full when you arrive - there's also a gravel lot tucked behind the main parking area that provides plenty of overflow space, even on busy weekends.
Good to Know
Note that the park doesn't have drinking fountains, restrooms, or electrical outlets available. If you're planning to hang out for more than an hour or so, you'll want to bring your own water and plan bathroom breaks accordingly.
Why Locals Love It
The park's peaceful vibe, variety of play options, and well-kept grounds make it a neighborhood favorite. If you're looking to shoot some hoops, give the kids room to run, or just find a quiet spot under a tree with a good book, Jason Jiron offers a touch of green tranquility in the heart of Las Cruces.
