About the Location
Walking Trail with a View
Located in Las Cruces is a cozy park with a 0.25 mile (that's 528 steps if you're counting) loop trail that circles the entire park. Don't worry about difficulty - it's a grade 2 trail, which basically means almost anyone can enjoy it without breaking too much of a sweat.
What makes this trail special are the integrated workout stations placed strategically along your walk. These stations allow you to mix exercise with your walk in the outdoors. Adding to the experience are the views of the Organ Mountains in the distance that make each lap around the park interesting.
What's There to Do?
Tellbrook Park offers a nice balance of activities for different age groups. Kids can enjoy the playground equipment that's particularly suited for the younger ones, while adults can get their heart rate up using the exercise equipment (though honestly, some updated instructions wouldn't hurt).
If you're into shooting hoops, there's a basketball hoop waiting for you. The little ones might also dig the sandbox area - great for creative play while you catch your breath after that workout circuit.
Take a Break
If you need a break, you'll find two tables and two benches in nicely shaded areas. These spots are good for unpacking a picnic lunch or simply sitting down with a good book while listening to the local birds do their thing.
The shade is a real blessing during those hot New Mexico days. Just remember to bring your own water bottle - the drinking fountain here isn't always reliable.
Good to Know
One of the nicest things about Tellbrook is how it stays relatively peaceful because it's somewhat hidden from the main road. Parking is limited though - there are only about two spots in a small dirt area by the entrance.
Bringing Fido along? The park is dog-friendly with plenty of open space for your four-legged friend to explore. Just be a good neighbor and clean up afterward. While there are trash cans that get regularly emptied, you won't find any restrooms here.
You'll often spot seniors enjoying the fully paved walkway, and if you're into birdwatching, you might want to bring those binoculars. The best part? It's completely free to visit.
