Star Heights Park

What You'll Find Here

Star Heights Park shares Rio Rancho's neighborhood fabric with a community center at its core - a hub for local programs and events year-round that keeps residents connected. At 3.7 acres, the park is modest in size but puts a reasonable variety of options within easy reach.

Kids will enjoy the playground area featuring new equipment where they can play for hours. Basketball fans can shoot some hoops at the on-site basketball courts, though they're showing some signs of wear and could use some TLC down the road.

If you're into skateboarding, the park's skate park provides a dedicated space for tricks and practice. Just be aware that parts of the half pipe have seen better days.

Taking a Break

Need a moment to recharge? The park's green spaces offer perfect spots to unwind or enjoy a family picnic. You'll come across covered picnic areas and benches scattered throughout, providing welcome shade during those sunny New Mexico days. There are three picnic tables available if you're planning to bring lunch along.

The landscape here is pleasantly varied, with a mix of grassy patches, sandy areas, cement surfaces, and trees creating different zones for whatever activity you're in the mood for. The grounds are typically clean and well-maintained, thanks to the dedicated park staff who keep things looking nice.

Dog owners will be happy to know the park is dog-friendly - just remember to bring bags to clean up after your four-legged friends.

Getting Around

Star Heights Park prioritizes accessibility with handicap-accessible facilities throughout and a convenient parking lot for visitors arriving by car.

You'll also find basic amenities like drinking fountains to keep you hydrated during your visit, however occasionally these might be turned off, so bringing your own water bottle isn't a bad idea.
