About the Location
Urban Oasis
M. Lemp Park is a small urban green space located in downtown Syracuse, New York. Situated at the corner of South Warren Street and East Fayette Street, this 0.36-acre park serves as a peaceful oasis amidst the bustling city center.
The park was established in 2011 after the demolition of three commercial buildings on the site.
History and Namesake
Named after M. Lemp Jewelers, a longstanding business that still operates across the street. The park preserves a connection to local commerce while providing public space.
The Syracuse Industrial Development Agency (SIDA) acquired the site in 2008 and invested in temporary improvements to create a recreational space for downtown workers and residents.
Amenities
The park features basic landscaping elements typical of urban pocket parks. It includes paved pathways, benches, and lighting fixtures to provide a comfortable environment for visitors.
While small in size, M. Lemp Park offers a convenient spot for relaxation and casual gatherings in the heart of Syracuse's business district.
