Skyway Park is a public recreational area located in North Syracuse, New York. Situated near Interstate 81, this park serves as a popular destination for local residents and visitors alike. The park is home to the North Syracuse Little League, making it a hub for youth baseball and softball activities.
Recent Renovations
The park has undergone significant renovations over the years, with a major overhaul completed in 2021. These improvements were carried out in three phases over a 12-year period, enhancing various aspects of the park's facilities and infrastructure.
The renovations included the construction of a new concession stand and restrooms, reconfiguration of baseball and softball fields, addition of pickleball courts, expansion of the playground area, and repaving of the parking lot to accommodate 100 vehicles.
Athletic Facilities
Skyway Park now boasts five regulation Little League fields, including one that was converted to a girls' softball field. The park's expansive layout and diverse amenities make it suitable for a wide range of outdoor activities and community events.
Its largest pavilion is available for picnics and gatherings, though reservations may be limited due to Little League use.
Community Effort
The park's development has been a collaborative effort involving the town of Cicero, local leaders, and the North Syracuse Little League. Funding for the project came from various sources, including State and Municipal Facilities Grants, town funds, and Onondaga County Community Development.
Local businesses, volunteers, and contractors also contributed their time and resources to bring the renovated Skyway Park to fruition.
