About the Location
Natural Setting
McCrimmon Park is a 20-acre site located at the southeast corner of Green Level Church Road and McCrimmon Parkway in northwest Cary, North Carolina. The park, which opened in February 2024, features a natural setting with rolling topography, mature tree canopy, and existing creeks.
The park has a nature theme due to the existing natural conditions, including buffers and steep slopes. Its design integrates various amenities within the natural environment, focusing on facilities with small footprints clustered on the flatter ridges.
Trails and Connections
A distinctive bridge and trail connection across the central valley encourages travel between both sides of the park. The park also connects to the Morris Branch Greenway and Amberly, providing additional recreational opportunities for visitors.
Development History
The park's development included public involvement, with information meetings held in January and November 2018. A Citizens Resource Team provided input on the proposed program and plans.
The Cary Town Council approved the master plan for the park on June 27, 2019. Construction began in May 2022 and was completed in February 2024, with a budget of $10,100,000 for design and construction.
Funding came from Recreation Payment In Lieu-West Funds and Parks Bonds approved by Cary voters in October 2019.
