Tucked between Charlotte's historic Dilworth and Myers Park neighborhoods, Freedom Park spreads across 98 acres of green space just 3 miles from downtown. The park's heart is a stunning 7-acre lake where a charming stone bridge creates picture-perfect reflections on the water. A Bit of History

Freedom Park came to life in 1948 as a tribute to Charlotte's World War II veterans. Over the years, it's transformed into one of the city's most cherished outdoor spaces, blending recreational facilities with natural beauty that changes with the seasons.

The smaller one is fenced and designed with little ones (ages 1-5) in mind, while the larger playground caters to older children and features a mini Carolina Panthers training playground complete with obstacle courses. Kids also love climbing on the old steam engine train - a unique play structure that sparks imagination and adventure.

The park comes alive during the year with community gatherings. The highlight is the annual Festival in the Park, a five-day September celebration that draws over 100,000 people and has earned recognition as a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society.

During summer evenings, the park's bandshell becomes an outdoor theater hosting free films and concerts. Nearby, a stepped seating area overlooking the lake provides an excellent spot to enjoy performances with a backdrop of water and trees.
