What You'll Find Here

Holt School Road Park has a charming playground that's well-suited for little ones aged 2-12. If you've got kids at different stages (the toddler who wants to explore everything and the older child who's already a "big kid"), you'll appreciate that there are swings sized for both age groups - making it easier to keep an eye on everyone while they play.

One of our favorite features has to be the short nature trail that winds through the park. It's nothing too strenuous - just a pleasant path that's meant for a family stroll. It's a nice way to introduce kids to nature or simply clear your head after a long day.

Take a Break

Planning a family gathering or just want to enjoy lunch outdoors? The park's picnic shelter comes equipped with tables and a grill, giving you everything you need for a relaxed outdoor meal. It's a simple setup, but sometimes that's all you need.

There's also a water fountain available - always handy after exploring the trails or playing on the equipment.

Recent Refresh

In 2015, the park got a nice update with a playground makeover and an expanded interpretive trail. The improvements were funded by a $20,000 grant from the Build Community Campaign, showing how the Durham community values these shared spaces.

Good to Know

The park is open daily from 6:30AM to 7PM. Since it's maintained by Durham Parks and Recreation, you won't need to pay an entry fee - making it an accessible option for everyone in the community.
