Mazarick Park

Natural Beauty Spot

Spread across about 80 acres, this park is home to Glenville Lake, a peaceful water feature ideal for fishing or simply sitting by the shore and collecting your thoughts. The fishing pier juts out into the water, giving you a great spot to cast your line while soaking in the views.

Note that if you're planning to fish, you'll need to follow state licensing requirements and local watershed ordinances. You can only fish from the designated pier (not from the shoreline), and boats aren't permitted on the lake. Bass, catfish, and bream are common catches for patient anglers.

The lake area features beautiful cypress trees creating a sense of calm. In fall, the colors around the water are absolutely gorgeous, and if you're lucky, you might even spot some deer wandering through.

Trails and Wildlife

One of the highlights of Mazarick Park is its network of paved walking trails that meander through wooded areas. These paths offer a quiet escape for exercise, nature walks, or just a casual afternoon stroll. The trails are wide and well-maintained, with plenty of room for two-way traffic whether you're running, jogging, or biking.

If you're feeling a bit more adventurous, several paths branch off into more wooded areas for extra exploration. What's really nice is how the trails shield you from city noise, creating a surprisingly peaceful atmosphere not far from town.

The natural setting makes this a great place for wildlife watching during the year. Bird enthusiasts particularly will find plenty to appreciate as seasons change.

Sports and Recreation

For those looking to get active, the park offers tennis courts and a baseball field that are well-maintained and ready for use. The tennis courts are popular with locals for good reason.

If you're into disc golf, you're in luck - there's an 18-hole course winding through the park. With its mix of elevation changes, wooded sections, and open areas, it provides a fun challenge whether you're just starting out or have been playing for years.

There's also a basketball court available when you feel like shooting some hoops or jumping into a pickup game.

Family-Friendly Spaces

Kids will love the playgrounds here, which provide safe and fun environments for different age groups. There are multiple play areas - a gentler one designed with toddlers and younger children in mind, and another better suited for the 5-12 age range.

Scattered throughout the park are several picnic shelters, meant for family gatherings or outdoor meals with friends. These work on a first-come basis unless you've reserved one ahead of time. Each picnic area comes with permanent grills for when you're in the mood for a cookout.

Restroom facilities are available throughout the park, but like many public spaces, they sometimes need a little TLC.
