About the Location

A Gift to the City

LeBauer Park is a 4-acre urban park located in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina. The park opened on August 8, 2016 after being created with a $10 million gift from the estate of Carolyn LeBauer.

The park was designed to be a central gathering space that connects surrounding civic and cultural institutions in downtown Greensboro.

Lush Landscapes

The park features beautifully landscaped gardens with over 350 trees and 60 different species of ornamental plants. These include both classic Southern garden plants and hardy native selections.

Artistic Centerpiece

At the heart of LeBauer Park is a large concert lawn and performance pavilion that hosts community events and performances. The park is crowned with a striking fiber art installation called "Where We Met" by renowned artist Janet Echelman.

This colorful aerial sculpture spans 200 by 130 feet over the park's Great Lawn.

Children's Play Areas

For children, the park includes an expansive play area with features like a climbing wall, topographic landforms, a sand play area, and a large hill with slides. There is also an interactive water feature plaza.

Activities for All Ages

Other amenities cater to visitors of all ages, including a dog park, reading room, games area, croquet lawn, and putting green. The park balances active recreation areas with quieter spaces for passive enjoyment and reflection.

Cultural Connections

LeBauer Park serves as an anchor for Greensboro's cultural district, creating connections between nearby museums, libraries, and arts venues. With its central location and diverse features, the park has become a popular destination for both residents and visitors to downtown Greensboro.
