About the Location
A Woodland Retreat in the City
Nestled in the heart of Raleigh, North Carolina, Fallon Park is a slender slice of tranquility stretching between Royster Street and Oxford Road, just northeast of the Five Points area. Established back in 1942, this 10.3-acre wooded area has served as a retreat for locals for generations. We've met people who still smile when they talk about childhood adventures in this peaceful pocket of nature.
The Soundtrack of Flowing Water
One of the park's most enchanting features is the small stream that winds its way through the grounds, branching off from the nearby Crabtree Creek. The water creates little pools around the park where you can enjoy impromptu explorations or simply watch the play of light on the surface.
There's something calming about the gentle babble of flowing water here - it helps mask the distant hum of the city.
Room to Roam
The park offers a lovely blend of open spaces and shaded woodland areas. Down at the lower level, you'll come across a spacious open field that's ideal for tossing a frisbee, spreading out a picnic blanket, or letting your four-legged friend burn off some energy.
An unpaved walking path meanders through the park, taking you across charming bridges and past large rocks that border the stream. Though relatively short, the trail offers a nice natural experience for morning joggers, dog walkers, or anyone looking to clear their head with a leisurely stroll.
Places to Gather
When it's time to refuel, the park offers a small picnic shelter with a grill at one end - excellent for those weekend family cookouts. At the opposite end, you'll discover a gazebo with a picnic table, offering another pleasant spot to enjoy a packed lunch or catch up with friends.
While there aren't any restroom facilities here, the park is very accommodating to dogs, with poop bag dispensers and trash cans thoughtfully placed around the perimeter.
Whispers of History
For history buffs, one of the hidden treasures within Fallon Park is the presence of old mill ruins - silent reminders of the area's industrial past amid the natural setting.

A Neighborhood's Living Room
Fallon Park is popular with the surrounding community - a place to unwind, play, and enjoy nature. Its proximity to residential areas makes it accessible for neighbors and families.
The north side of the park offers additional seating areas, and you'll discover plenty of places to sit within the grounds - fantastic for reading a book, watching children play, or simply soaking in the peaceful atmosphere.
Beyond the Boundaries
When you're ready to extend your outdoor adventure, Fallon Park connects to the broader Raleigh greenway system. You can access the Crabtree Creek Trail from the northern end of Oxford Road.
This connection opens up even more possibilities, linking you to other nearby green spaces like Lassiter Mill Park and Kiwanis Park - turning a quick visit into a day of exploration if you're feeling ambitious.
