About the Location
Park Overview
Leesville Community Park is a 56-acre neighborhood park located at 5105 Country Trail in northwest Raleigh, North Carolina. Established in 1990, the park offers a blend of recreational facilities and natural areas for visitors to enjoy.
Playgrounds
The park features two distinct playgrounds designed for different age groups: one for children aged 2 to 5 years and another for ages 5 to 12 years. These play areas include various equipment such as slides, cargo nets, and climbing structures, all set on a wood chip surface.
One of the playgrounds is covered by a large shade tarp, providing protection from the sun during play.
Library Integration
A notable feature of Leesville Community Park is its integration with the Wake County Library system. The Leesville Community Library is located on the park premises, offering visitors the opportunity to combine outdoor activities with access to library resources.
This unique combination of park and library facilities creates a multifaceted community space.
Recreation Trails
For those seeking physical activity, the park provides a paved, multipurpose trail. This asphalt trail is 10 feet wide and extends for approximately 1,400 linear feet, suitable for walking, jogging, or biking.
The trail offers visitors a chance to enjoy the park's natural surroundings while exercising.
Upcoming Improvements
As of early 2025, Leesville Community Park is undergoing improvements funded by the 2022 Raleigh Parks Bond. These enhancements include plans for a permanent restroom facility to replace the existing temporary restroom trailer.
Other proposed additions include an outdoor reading nook, electric vehicle charging stations, and an expanded playground area with a new shade structure.
The outdoor restrooms were temporarily closed as of early 2025, with restroom facilities available in the Leesville branch library during its operating hours.
