A Riverside Retreat

Stretching along the Red River in downtown Fargo, Liberty Park offers a small but charming greenspace to catch your breath and enjoy some nature. You'll find this compact park just south of Main Avenue, near the Veterans Memorial Bridge that connects Fargo with its neighbor, Moorhead, Minnesota.

The Little Lady Liberty

The park's star attraction? A mini replica of the Statue of Liberty that proudly stands watch over the river. There's actually a bit of drama in her story - the original statue was stolen in July 2019 (who steals a Statue of Liberty?!), but a new Lady Liberty took her place in June 2020. She's become quite the local landmark, especially for folks crossing the nearby bridge.

As part of the Red River Trail system, Liberty Park is ideal for those moments when you need a quiet space away from the city buzz. The riverside setting creates a peaceful backdrop for a quick lunch break or a thoughtful moment of solitude.

The park invites you to stroll along the riverfront, sit for a while on a bench, or simply pause to decide where your journey along the bike path should take you next. If you're into fishing, you'll often spot locals casting their lines into the Red River here.

One of the best things about Liberty Park is how it links to the broader Fargo park network. Located conveniently for both downtown residents and visitors, it is a natural gateway between other green spaces. Follow the trails north to reach Oak Grove Park or head south to discover the larger Lindenwood Park - making this modest space an important piece in Fargo's outdoor puzzle.
