About the Location
Breathtaking Views
Perched atop a hill in Cincinnati's Price Hill neighborhood, Mt. Echo Park spreads across 84 acres of urban greenspace. The highlight here? The panoramic views of Downtown Cincinnati, the Ohio River, and Northern Kentucky stretching out before you.
Many consider this one of Cincinnati's premier vantage points, especially for taking in the city skyline. Pro tip: visit during sunrise or sunset when the light transforms the entire vista into something truly magical. If you're into photography, you'll definitely want to bring your camera along.
A Park with History
Before becoming the beloved park we know today, this land served as a dairy farm until 1908 when it was established as a public park. Over the decades, Mt. Echo has become a peaceful retreat from city life while maintaining its connection to Cincinnati.
Today, the park's picturesque setting is popular for weddings and family gatherings. The backdrop makes it a common choice for wedding photos.
Architectural Gems
A key feature in the landscape is the Mt. Echo Pavilion, an Italian Renaissance-style structure dating back to 1928. The Cincinnati architectural firm Rendigs, Panzer and Martin designed this beauty as part of a city-wide initiative by the Cincinnati Park Board and George Kessler.
Landscape architect A.D. Taylor added his touch to the pavilion's surroundings, creating a harmonious blend of architecture and nature. If you're planning an event, you can actually rent this historic pavilion for your special occasion.
Depression-Era Craftsmanship
The park's Mt. Echo Picnic Shelter, added in 1940, was constructed during the New Deal era under the Works Progress Administration. Designed by R. Carl Freund, the shelter shows influences from Frank Lloyd Wright, organic architecture, and the distinctive WPA "rustic" style.
This shaded retreat offers an excellent spot for enjoying a relaxed picnic while surrounded by bits of American history.
Get Active
Mt. Echo Park offers various recreational options. The park features well-maintained tennis courts, basketball courts, and a modern playground that kids of different ages will enjoy.
Planning an outdoor meal? You'll find designated grilling areas and numerous picnic areas with tables scattered across the grounds. For something a bit different, try your hand at the horseshoe pits for some old-school fun.
Natural Escape
The natural landscape includes steep wooded hillsides and peaceful hiking trails that invite exploration. If you're just looking for a quick workout, the paved walking paths let you complete a loop of the park in about 20 minutes.
Dog owners will appreciate that the park is dog-friendly, with plenty of space to walk your leashed furry friends. Between the open grassy areas and wooded sections, you can choose between sunny expanses or shaded retreats depending on your mood.
Plan Your Visit
Mt. Echo Park welcomes visitors daily from 6AM to 10PM. You'll find ample parking throughout, although it tends to fill up during weekends and beautiful days when everyone has the same idea.
Restroom facilities are available, however they may operate seasonally. No matter when you visit, each season offers its own unique perspective on the impressive views that have made Mt. Echo a treasured Cincinnati landmark.
