Frank Fetch Memorial Park

Frank Fetch Park is a small but charming green space located in the historic German Village neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. Named after Frank Fetch, a local preservationist and former Columbus Parks Superintendent, the park spans just 0.2 acres but serves as a beloved community gathering place.

Established in 1962 and officially opened in 1966, the park was designed to resemble a 19th-century German "Bier Garten." Its layout features brick pathways, flower planters, and decorative gas lights that contribute to an old-world atmosphere. In 1985, the park was renamed Frank Fetch Memorial Park to honor Fetch's role in establishing the space and his contributions to preserving German Village.

The German Village Garten Club plays a significant role in maintaining and funding the park, using proceeds from their annual Garten Markt Sale. A dedicated group known as the Friends of Frank Fetch Park oversees daily maintenance and planting requirements, ensuring the park remains a lush and inviting space throughout the seasons.

Despite its small size, Frank Fetch Park has become one of the most frequently used green spaces in Franklin County. It serves as a tranquil oasis for residents and visitors alike, offering a peaceful retreat within the bustling city. The park's intimate setting makes it a popular spot for community events, picnics, and even small weddings.

In recent years, improvements have been made to enhance visitor comfort, including the addition of a pergola over picnic tables to provide much-needed shade. The park's beauty and meticulous upkeep have earned it praise from both locals and tourists, cementing its status as a hidden gem within Columbus.
