About the Location
Location and Layout
Tucked away in Dayton's Belmont neighborhood, Nordale Park offers a green retreat spanning about 7.8 acres. This neighborhood space offers a quiet green area for locals.
You'll find the park at the corner of Nordale Avenue and Enterprise Avenue, making it an easy stop for anyone living nearby. There's no dedicated parking lot, but don't worry - street parking is available along the dead-end street right next to the park.
Park Features
Nordale balances open grassy areas with patches of tree coverage, giving you options whether you're seeking sunshine or shade. Keep an eye out for the buckeye tree standing proudly among the foliage - a living symbol of Ohio's state pride.
A gentle walking trail meanders through the park, great for a peaceful stroll or a light morning jog to start your day right.
Kids will love the modern playground with its impressively tall equipment that appears freshly updated. Parents can appreciate the generous shade covering the play area, making afternoon playdates comfortable even during summer heat.
If you're feeling more active, shoot some hoops at the basketball courts, or gather friends and family at the picnic area where tables await your spread of sandwiches and snacks.
The park's pavilion features a mural and offers a sheltered spot for gatherings, whether you're celebrating a birthday or just enjoying lunch with friends.
Community Involvement
Over recent years, Nordale Park has seen some lovely improvements thanks to local involvement. The community garden allows residents to grow their own vegetables and meet fellow gardeners.
The annual Founders Day celebration is held at the park - a local tradition where neighbors gather.
Future Plans
Nordale is a park in transition. Some older features like the former wading pool have been removed or are marked for demolition, but there's excitement about planned improvements on the horizon. The restrooms currently have a bit of an on-again, off-again relationship with visitors, which will hopefully be addressed in upcoming renovations.
Dog owners can rejoice - your four-legged friends are welcome to join you for walks and playtime in this neighborhood green space.
