About the Location

Trail Overview

Positioned in the heart of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Liberty Park provides a green space away from the city environment. This public recreational site stretches approximately 9.5 miles, beginning at New Orleans Street (101st Street) near Northeastern State University and extending until it meets the Mingo Trail.

At the park's core is the Liberty Parkway Trail, a smooth paved pathway that's meant for whatever movement suits your mood - whether you're in for a peaceful walk, an energizing jog, a bike ride, or some inline skating. As you make your way along the trail, you'll wind through a mix of serene lowland woods and open spaces that run alongside the Creek Turnpike.

Trail Characteristics

While you'll find welcome patches of shade along parts of the trail, be prepared for sun exposure on significant stretches, especially those running parallel to the turnpike.

What's nice about Liberty Park is that it works for almost everyone - fitness novices and enthusiasts alike. Some sections feature gentle, manageable slopes, while others offer more challenging hills that'll get your heart pumping. If you're looking for variety in your workout, head to the western quarter where the terrain changes things up. For those who prefer a more straightforward route, the eastern three-quarters provide longer, straighter pathways.

Access Points

Getting to Liberty Park is a breeze thanks to multiple entry points. You can start your journey at the Northeastern State University Broken Arrow Campus trailhead, the Aspen Avenue/145th East Avenue entrance, or jump on at the intersection of New Orleans Street/101st Street and Garnett Road. These convenient access points make the park easy to reach no matter which part of the city you're coming from.

Amenities

Note that water sources are limited along the trail - there's just one water fountain reported throughout the entire route, so you might want to bring your own supply. Also, the park doesn't have lighting installed, which is something to keep in mind if you're planning an early morning or evening visit.
