About the Location
Park Overview
Tucked away in the northwestern corner of Oklahoma City, Harvest Hills Park is a treasured green space for the local community. This nearby park has been bringing residents together since the late 1970s to early 1980s, offering a breath of fresh air for those looking to escape the daily grind.
What makes this park special isn't anything fancy or over-the-top - it's the simple pleasure of having a clean, well-maintained outdoor space that rarely feels crowded. The friendly neighborhood setting provides a comfortable environment where you can relax.
Facilities and Amenities
Spread across nearly 6 acres, this park packs in quite a bit without feeling cluttered. Kids will enjoy the modern playground with multiple play structures suitable for different ages - great for active youngsters.
Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the batting cage and baseball fields for when you're feeling like channeling your inner major leaguer. There's also a basketball court conveniently located near the playground, making it easy to shoot some hoops while keeping an eye on the little ones. If organized sports aren't your thing, the expansive grassy fields provide plenty of space for impromptu frisbee matches or just throwing a football around.
Sprayground Feature
A highlight during Oklahoma's warmer months is the sprayground (or splash pad). Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. between May 25 and September 29, this water oasis offers sweet relief from the summer heat.
The interactive water features include buttons to press, buckets that fill and spill, cannons to aim, and levers to pull, all creating different spraying patterns. The shade tables nearby are a thoughtful touch, giving parents a comfortable spot to watch their little ones splash around.
Leisure Options
If you're more in the mood for relaxation, the park offers several picnic areas with covered tables. While you can't reserve these spots (it's first-come, first-served), they provide perfect settings for casual outdoor meals. One of the gazebos even includes a small grill for those who want to cook up some burgers or hot dogs, and there are plenty of trash cans nearby for easy cleanup.
The walking path that circles the park is ideal for a leisurely stroll, skating, or bike riding. It's positioned so you can keep an eye on the playground or fields while getting some exercise - multitasking at its finest.
Additional Information
Dog owners will be happy to know that four-legged friends are welcome in most areas (though not in the splash pad - sorry, Fido). There's even a pet waste station to help keep the park clean for everyone.
One thing to note: the park only offers a portable toilet rather than permanent restrooms, which might be something to plan around for longer visits.
Harvest Hills Park really comes alive during special occasions, particularly on the 4th of July when the baseball practice field transforms into a community gathering spot for fireworks. The open layout makes it an excellent choice for birthday celebrations and family get-togethers during the year.
Parking can be limited, especially on weekends when the park sees more visitors. For the Pokemon Go players out there, you'll come across two Pokemon Gyms and three PokeStops scattered throughout the grounds - a nice bonus for digital explorers.
Maintained by the Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department, this park is a convenient outdoor space located in the heart of a residential area.
