Golden Gardens Park

Park Overview

Tucked away in the Bethel neighborhood of northwest Eugene, Golden Gardens Park spreads across 223 acres of diverse landscape. The park features artificial quarry ponds - remnants of gravel extraction during the construction of the Randy Papé Beltline Highway. These water features have transformed into thriving habitats where you might spot the threatened western pond turtle or colorful native painted turtles basking in the sun.

Landscape and Trails

The park offers a little bit of everything: open meadows, serene wetlands, and shaded wooded areas. A mile-long soft surface walking path winds around the ponds, ideal for a leisurely stroll or a morning jog while taking in the natural surroundings.

Over time, the park has been enhanced with native trees, shrubs, and grasses - not just for aesthetic reasons, but to create a richer ecosystem that supports local wildlife.

Development Plans

Golden Gardens is a park in progress. Eugene's city planners have envisioned a future that includes sports fields and neighborhood park amenities while still preserving significant natural areas.
