About the Location
Park Overview
Situated in northeast Eugene, Oregon, Bond Lane Park is a peaceful, tree-dappled haven spanning 7.6 acres in the Cal Young Neighborhood. Located west of Norkenzie Road and north of Cal Young Road, this compact park might seem modest at first glance, but it feels much more spacious once you start exploring the trails that wind around its perimeter.
Natural Features
The north end of the park embraces a lovely forested area, complete with a loop trail that's well-suited for those who just need a moment to decompress with nature. Huge gorgeous trees stand as silent sentinels across the grounds, while large rhododendrons add splashes of color when in bloom. This little glimpse of nature offers a quiet retreat from the surrounding residential area.
Amenities
Several picnic tables dot the landscape, thoughtfully positioned to give you options for soaking up some vitamin D or cooling off in the shade. The open grassy expanse is just right for impromptu games of whiffle ball or simply sprawling out with a good book. Note that you'll want to bring your own water and plan bathroom breaks accordingly, as there are no drinking fountains or restrooms here.
Dog owners will appreciate that Your four-legged friends are welcome at Bond Lane Park. The pathways make for pleasant dog walks, and trash cans are available for those all-important waste bags. There's plenty of room for your pup to get some exercise while under your watchful eye.
Playground
At the southern end, a small playground awaits the younger crowd with swings and equipment that's set up for obstacle course-style adventures. While not extensive, the play area offers enough fun features to keep neighborhood kids entertained and active.
Recent Improvements
2010 brought a fresh face to the park with renovations that included playground enhancements, better accessibility features, new tree plantings, and updated park furniture.
Accessible Trail
The newest addition to Bond Lane Park came in 2024 with a freshly constructed 1/4-mile loop trail winding through the neighborhood natural area. This thoughtfully designed pathway features flat or very gentle grades, making outdoor enjoyment possible for people of all ages and mobility levels.
The trail's compacted gravel base topped with fine gravel creates a smooth, stable surface - a particularly welcome feature for residents from the adjacent retirement community who can now easily enjoy the park's natural beauty.
