The picnic area is a standout spot, featuring a shelter with lighting for evening get-togethers. It's well-suited for family reunions, birthday celebrations, or just enjoying a sandwich while watching the world go by.

Smart Environmental Design

At the north end of the park, you'll find something pretty clever. The Parks department and Public Works Engineering teamed up to create an area that not only helps prevent neighborhood flooding but also improves water quality and creates habitat for wildlife.

This dual-purpose design balances practical community needs with environmental considerations.

Irwin Park is where west Eugene residents come to play, relax, and connect with nature without leaving the city. It's especially popular with families and their four-legged friends, who love romping in the open areas.

You'll find a large parking lot that makes visiting easy. Note that there aren't any permanent restroom facilities here currently, so plan accordingly.
