A Sprawling Green Getaway

Located in the heart of Hillsboro, Hidden Creek Park East (formerly known as 53rd Avenue Community Park) spreads across a generous 43.5 acres along northeast 53rd Avenue. Since its partial opening in 2008, this city park has become a local favorite. If you happen to visit in spring, you're in for a visual treat as flowering trees and blooming plants transform the already pleasant landscape into something truly special.

Sports Paradise

At the center of the park's athletic offerings is a large FieldTurf artificial surface that equals two soccer fields in size. With evening lighting installed, the games don't have to stop when the sun goes down. Soccer and lacrosse players particularly appreciate this versatile space, however, be aware that these newly renovated fields are often booked solid for club and rec leagues, especially during evening hours.

For court sports enthusiasts, well-lit basketball courts host regular pickup games, while the combined tennis and pickleball courts offer options for racquet sports fans. Pickleball players will be happy to find six permanent, multi-use courts recently added by Hillsboro Parks and Recreation.

Cool Off and Splash Around

When summer temperatures climb, the popular splash pad (or sprayground) becomes the place to be. Kids love running through the rhythmic water fountains that shoot up from the ground at different heights. This refreshing feature typically operates during the summer months, providing an ideal cool-down spot on hot days.

Playground Adventures

The park has a creative playground with a variety of equipment for children of all ages. Beyond the standard slides and swings (including both regular swings and large round accessibility options), kids are drawn to the distinctive cone-shaped rope climbing structure that offers a more challenging play experience. There's even a natural rock area where young imaginations can run wild.

Comfort and Convenience

When it's time for a meal or snack, numerous picnic areas with tables are scattered within the grounds. You can choose between shaded spots under trees in grassy areas or tables in the central plaza, some with shade coverings during the warmer months.

Public restrooms can be found at the southeast corner of the parking lot, while additional portable toilets are situated near the sports courts on the park's north side. The main facilities are spacious and generally well-maintained, but they may operate seasonally.

During busy periods and events, a concessions area offers refreshments, and water fountains are conveniently placed throughout the park.

Four-Legged Friends Welcome

Your furry companions are welcome at Hidden Creek Park East, but they must remain on leash at all times and aren't permitted in the playground area. The open spaces and walking paths make for pleasant dog walks any time of year.

Part of Something Bigger

Hidden Creek Park East is part of a larger recreational complex that includes its sister park, Hidden Creek Park West, just across the street. The west side features an indoor recreation center among other amenities. Together, they make up the Hidden Creek Campus, a 33-acre area for community recreation. If you arrive to find the East parking lot full, you can easily find additional parking at Hidden Creek Park West.
