Located in Hillsboro sits Shadywood Park, a 9-acre touch of tranquility that feels worlds away from urban life. The towering oak groves blanket the area in cooling shade, creating what locals have affectionately dubbed a "magic forest" - and we think that description couldn't be more fitting.

Wander through this peaceful haven and you'll notice the character-filled trees with their fascinating trunks full of holes and crevices - natural apartments for the local wildlife that calls this park home.

Nature's Canvas

The landscape here is a refreshing reminder of what makes the Pacific Northwest special. Mature trees dominate the scenery, creating a lush green canopy that somehow makes you forget you're still within city limits. A drainage swale cuts through the middle of the park, occasionally transforming into charming little ponds after a good Oregon rain.

One of the nicest things about Shadywood is how well-maintained it is - the natural beauty is allowed to flourish while the grounds remain clean and cared for.

Getting Active (Or Not)

If you're looking to stretch your legs, the park's curved and overlapping paths meander through the wooded areas like something from a storybook. They're excellent for a contemplative stroll, walking your four-legged friend, or simply taking in the natural surroundings at your own pace.

Kids will make a beeline for the playground with its multiple slides, monkey bars, and sliding rail. The swings include a pretty cool hammock swing that's usually a hit. There are separate areas designed for toddlers and older children, so everyone from tiny explorers to more adventurous kids can find their fun.

The Practical Stuff

Planning to spend the day? You'll discover multiple picnic areas scattered within the grounds, with several sporting barbecue grills for impromptu cookouts. There's also a pavilion with covered seating that makes an ideal spot for family gatherings or small get-togethers, rain or shine.

Two unisex restrooms with sinks and soap are located near the parking lot, however keep in mind they may close seasonally. During these times, portable toilets are usually available instead.

Your canine companions are welcome here, with waste bag stations conveniently placed for responsible pet owners. Parking is available in a small lot, with additional street parking surrounding the park when things get busy.
