Situated in Hillsboro, Oregon, Walnut Street Park is a cozy 2.5-acre green space that's been bringing the community together since 1998. Located along southeast Walnut Street, just a few blocks east of Tenth Avenue, this little park is situated in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood southeast of Downtown Hillsboro.

What You'll Find

Despite its modest size, this park offers several amenities. Mature deciduous trees dot the landscape, casting welcome shade over grassy areas where you can spread out a blanket or just enjoy some fresh air. A network of paved pathways winds through the grounds, with a nice walking loop that's fantastic for a casual stroll or getting in those daily steps.

There's playground equipment suitable for kids ages 4-12, while sports enthusiasts can take advantage of the basketball court with its crisp markings or kick around a ball on the small soccer field.

The picnic shelter/gazebo provides shade from sun or drizzle, and several grilling areas are available for cookouts.

Cool Off in Style

A notable feature, especially during warm weather, is the splash pad water play area added in 2012. Though not enormous, this colorful water feature gives children a delightful spot to splash and play during hot summer days.

There's an eco-friendly bonus too - the water from the splash pad isn't wasted but instead feeds into the park's rain garden, showing some environmental thoughtfulness in the park's design.

Thanks to a federal grant in 2012, the park received a nice facelift with the addition of the splash pad, new benches, and revitalized grass areas.

The city does a good job maintaining the playground equipment, basketball court, and other facilities, keeping everything in good working order.
