Positioned in Portland's Brentwood-Darlington neighborhood, Flavel Park bears the name of Captain George Flavel, a maritime pioneer who played a significant role in early Portland trade. Fun fact: he earned the distinction of being the first licensed pilot to navigate the treacherous Columbia River bar - no small feat for sailors of his day!
