About the Location
Park Overview
Woodstock Park is a public green space located in the Woodstock neighborhood of southeast Portland, Oregon. Acquired in 1921, the park spans 14.11 acres (5.71 ha) and is operated by Portland Parks & Recreation.
The park is bounded by SE 47th Avenue to the west, SE 50th Avenue to the east, SE Steele Street to the north, and SE Harold Street and Woodstock School to the south.
Community Gatherings
The park serves as a central gathering place for the community, hosting various events throughout the year. These include high school softball games, outdoor movie screenings, Woodstock School reunions, and an annual event known as "Unimproved Road".
Recent Changes
In January 2025, due to significant deterioration and safety concerns, the park's play structure was removed. The out-of-service concrete wading pool, which had been unusable for many years, was also removed.
At present, there is no budget to replace either the play structure or the wading pool.
Art Installation
Woodstock Park is home to "Park Place," an art installation by Lloyd Hamrol. This series of three gathering places features benches scaled at alternating levels to accommodate both children and adults.
The columns were designed to mirror the existing brickwork in the park and reference the many strands of trees.
